Borgata is officially making the switch to M life Rewards on June 7, which means casino patrons can earn rewards at every MGM Resorts property.
The change is not surprising. MGM Resorts took sole control over Borgata Resort and Casino last year. Since then, MGM is taking a front and center approach to management after years of taking a backseat in Borgata operations.
M life switch effective June 7
Starting June 7, players at Borgata will begin earning M life points. Day-to-day operations will not be much different, but the effects extend far beyond just Atlantic City.
The biggest upside for players is now points can be used at any MGM property, not just Borgata. M life will feature Borgata-specific rewards and players will still receive Borgata offers, but the change allows customers much more flexibility in how they use their rewards points. Moreover, it gives them additional opportunities to earn points at other M life properties.
Tom Ballance, president and chief operating officer for Borgata highlighted why now is the time for the change:
“The ability to offer our devoted customers a connection from Borgata to sister properties in Las Vegas and throughout the country is an invaluable asset and something that we are extremely eager to introduce. The timing couldn’t be more ideal, as MGM Resorts expands their presence into the mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States with the recent opening of the $1.4 billion MGM National Harbor in Maryland and the upcoming 2018 opening of MGM Springfield in Massachusetts.”
Borgata carrying over old rewards program points
Players with existing Borgata Rewards account don’t need to worry either. Borgata is transferring points balances over to M life.
Additionally, players will retain their rewards tiers with a corresponding M life status. For example, Borgata Black Label members will become M life Gold players. Gold is the third of five tiers in the M life system.
MGM also announced it will be launching a new set of online poker and casino sites to go along with BorgataCasino and BorgataPoker too. The new playMGM-branded sites will run on the same software as Borgata sites, just under a different name. It will also feature M life player rewards.
With those sites under the same M life umbrella, new MGM casinos up and down the East Coast, and the potential for more states in the area to move forward with online gambling legislation, the opportunities to earn M life points just keep growing.
