888 Online Casino NJ Review

888 Online Casino NJ Review

888’s casino and online poker room is one of several online casinos available in New Jersey. The 888 brand itself has recognition among players from the US in the pre-UIGEA days and overseas alike. Its namesake has allowed it immediate popularity, in both the casino and poker facets of the competitive New Jersey online gaming landscape.

To join and play at 888 online casino, the parameters you must meet are the same as for every New Jersey casino. You do not need to be an actual resident of state, but you do need to be in New Jersey when you are playing. This gives tourists and visitors (especially those to gaming-friendly Atlantic City) much more incentive to play online.

888 Casino sign up bonus

The sign up bonuses for New Jersey online casinos tend to be fairly similar from website to website. This holds true at 888, where players are eligible for $20 free without any real money deposit whatsoever.

Editor's Review

888 tends not to be exceptional in most categories, with the possible exception of poker. Its website and software are somewhat lacking. With that said, an encouraging signup offer including $20 free should make it worth your while to try it out and see for yourself if you're looking for a new online casino available in New Jersey. It does have name recognition and a history of dependability.

Games available at 888

Perhaps the biggest deterrent to online play at 888 is its weak game selection. There are four primary categories of game types to choose from, including blackjack, roulette, slots, and video poker. Needless to say, slots has the most expansive offering, about 50 different games from which to choose.

For video poker, only “Jacks or Higher,” otherwise known as Jacks or Better (JOB) is available. For most video poker players, this simply won’t be that enticing, especially when brick and mortar casinos tend to offer dozens, if not more, varieties of video poker.

Blackjack also has limited options; however, roulette does have a more expansive selection than you will find at most competing casinos. Of course, the only real difference between these games is found in the number of 0’s and 00’s that are on the wheel. As always, European roulette will pay back the best at 888 since there is only one ‘0’ on the wheel.

Online poker is a large part, and perhaps the most popular section, of 888’s online casino. Players who join the poker room are also eligible for $10 free, in addition to two entries into the 888 “Weekend Warrior” freeroll. While 888 is certainly not the largest poker room in New Jersey, it is worth joining if only for the free $10 as a test run. If you watch a lot of televised poker, you have likely seen the 888 poker room advertised at one point or another.

Mobile play

888 has a mobile app available for both Android and iOS users. With that said, the presentation of the casino’s mobile offering leaves much to be desired. It seems as though these apps were compiled as an afterthought rather than carefully considered. If you are an active player, a watered-down version of 888’s client can be used by downloading its app, but don’t expect to be overwhelmed by what is available.

VIP and rewards program

888’s player program uses what it refers to as “status points.” These points are accumulated at a rate of one point per $16 wagered. There do not appear to be any tiers that work in tandem with these points, and a flat rate of $1 per 100 status points is listed as the cash conversion rate. While some players prefer to receive benefits or to earn physical prizes, many will appreciate the ability to simply turn the points that they earn right into actual cash.

888 does not have a lot to offer in the way of promotions. The promotions tab on its website simply lists the $20 no-deposit bonus, the 50-percent-up-to-$1500-deposit match bonus, as well as daily deals. These daily deals change from time to time, but as a player you will be randomly eligible for everything from cashback to free play.

Deposit and withdrawal options

As is the case with virtually every casino on the internet, 888 has more deposit options available than it does withdrawal choices. Deposits and withdrawals alike are very easy to complete. If you have played online poker in Nevada, for example, you should expect to find a similar experience using 888’s online casino, especially as it relates to banking.

For deposits, players can choose from the following methods:

  • Bank transfer
  • Neteller
  • Cash at cage
  • PayPal
  • Visa/MasterCard
  • Online banking transfer
  • PayNearMe

Of these choices, players can complete withdrawals via bank transfer, Neteller, cash at cage, or PayPal. Deposit and withdrawal limits vary based on your history and banking method chosen.

Customer support

The support is somewhat poor at 888 online casino. When going to the “help” section, the website attempts to get you to simply open its client to “play now.” Needless to say, this isn’t what players are looking for when they need support.

Email was the only real option, accessible via the widget icon located next to the casino’s social media icons. The rest of its support area is simply pre-written pages. The support at 888, as a whole, a few notches below the competition.
